Laois County Indoor Championship - AIT Arena Athlone 04.03.17
Our Juveniles put on a great show for everyone in Athlone and came home with many medals. There was plenty of competition and also lots of fun. The organisers of this event should be very proud of a very successful day of athletics. This cannot happen either without our athletes and all those who are working in the background to ensure competitors are competition ready. Senior Women’s 200m. We had two competitors in this race Kate Walsh (3rd) and Maria Cuddy.
Senior Women’s 1,500m: Maria Cuddy (3rd) and Amy Walsh took on this race. This race was ran at the same time as the men’s 1500m and athletes all ran very well considering a near pile up on the first 100m.
Men’s Shot Putt: Seamus Fitzpatrick (1st )
Malta Half Marathon
James Hamm and Cyril Cuddy each had a great run in this year’s Malta Half Marathon. Both men achieved PB’s. James ran his race in 1:15:05 a PB. This was Cyril’s second time doing this half marathon and ran it this year in a time of 1:15:48 a PB. Not only ran a PB but Cyril also was 2nd O40. Great running guys.
Kinvara Half Marahon 2017
Nuala Arrigan travelled to Kinvara to do this Half Marathon on Sat 4th March and was very happy with a time of 2:15 on a very hilly course. Well done Nuala.
2017 Cross Country Intervarsity Competition Abbottstown
Congratulations to Aengus Burke who was on the AIT Bronze winning team in this competition on Sunday. Well done Aengus.
The Heritage 5k hosted by St Michael’s Athletic 5k Sunday 5.3.17
Well done to St Michael’s on a very successful even for a great cause the Ben & Jake Connolly Trust. We had Tony Reilly 2nd (16:34), John Campbell 6th (17:51), Richie Reid 7th (18:04). Ladies we had Maria Cuddy 4th in a PB time of 21.48, followed by Olive Maher 28:32, Ursula O’Malley 28:57 and Susan Miley 40.23. A massive well done to the many couch to 5k members who completed their very first 5k on Sunday. They were Mary Campbell, Emma Power, Emer Kelly, Emma Hannigan, Yvonne Walsh, Sandra Condell, Caroline Phelan, Teresa Dunne, Helena Ramsbottom and Eddie McCormack.
