All Ireland Schools Cross Country Mallusk 11.3.17
Well done to Louise Stack who finished off her Cross County season in Mallusk competing in the senior girl’s race in Mallusk representing Mountrath Community School.
Vicarstown Park Run 11.3.17
Again this week Portlaoise had good numbers out in Vicarstown. This week our runners were supporting suicide awareness a very worthy cause.
First to finish was Fionn Marum a Juvenile still and he finished in 2nd place just ahead of his Dad Noel Marum 3rd followed by Richie Reid 4th, Joe Walsh 8th and Niall Collins 9th.
First Lady to finish today was Anna Duggan followed by Lucy Dunne 2nd and another of our juveniles Charlie Walsh in 5th, Sinead Curtis 8th and Nuala Arrigan 14th.
Well done everyone a great reason to be up early on a Saturday morning.
Ballycotton 10 mile 12.3.2017
This was the 40th anniversary running of this ten mile race. Weather was a lot dryer than last year, but a little windy between miles 3 and 6. There were almost 3000 competed in this Cork costal town. Portlaoise A.C had Patrick Marshall who has now ran this event 18 times and was first to finish for Portlaoise in a time of 63.40. Paul Cuddy was not far behind him in PB time of 64:19. Niall Collins has also a great history running this year for the 15th time and finished in time of 1:13.49. Mary Flynn was our first lady across the line in a time of 1:17.23 her first time running this event, followed by Maria Cuddy 1:17.53, Catherine Ryan ran in 1:18:00 first time to run a ten mile. Niamho Kavnagh was 1:35:11, Julieka Cahill, Amanda McDonlad and our second Niamh Kavanagh finished together in in 1:38.00, and Sinead Curtis hit her targeted time of 1:40.00. Ursula O’Malley 1:42.02, Elaine Moore 1:43:29, Martina Gardener 1:46.02 and Clare Dunne 1:51. That completes the list of all 15 or our athletes. Well done to all. We look forward to next year.
Couch to 5k
Couch to 5k programme has now ended and for those wanting to continue with their training this can be done by becoming a club member. The membership fee is €50. Registration forms are in the Cabin and also available on Portlaoise Ac website. The track is available to senior athletes 6-7 Tuesday and Thursday and juvenile training is 7-8 Tuesday and Thursday. There is also an informal meet at 8.10 each Monday evening. Use of the track is €2 per night.
