Irish Runner 5 Mile Saturday 17th June
This was the 15th running of this race but a new course this year. Portlaoise AC had two members who travelled to Dublin, Sinead Curtis and Niall Collins both ran this 5 mile. It was reported after that the Phoenix park was the hottest part on Ireland on Saturday so difficult conditions and well done.
Thoroughbred Run Kildare 2017 5k, 10K and Half Marathon
With all 3 races going ahead it was a busy Father’s day in Kildare. James Hamm competed in the 5k and was 2nd overall with a new PB of 16:03. Super running well done James.
A big day for Tracey Gavin and Sarah Conroy who completed their very first half marathon in Kildare. The first of many. Congratulations to you both. Niall Curtis completed yet another half marathon in Kildare the day after the Irish Runner 5 mile no less. Well done Niall.
Triathlon Lough Derg Nenagh 17.6.2017
Well done to Elaine Moore, Patricia Naughton, Yvonne Lambe and Olwyn Larkin who completed triathlon in Nenagh on Saturday.
Kiladooley National school 5k 18.6.2017
Anna Duggan and Nuala Arrigan were in Kiladooley for this 5k. Anna was only off the plane after a 2 week break and was first lady home. Well done Anna. Nuala after completed her marathon only a few weeks ago ran well and was delighted to be presented with “spirit of the day award “once word got out of her marathon. Well-deserved Nuala.
Vicarstown Park Run
Two of our juniors were in action again at the weekly park run, David Faulkner led them home again in 5th place overall and 1st Junior. Tiarnán Marum running his first park run in a while had a great run to come home 12th Overall and 2nd Junior. Great running lads.
Leinster Track & Field Championships
On a very hot weekend, two of our junior ladies competed in the Leinster Track & Field Championships held in Tullamore. Amy & Katie Walsh went over to compete in different events.
Amy Walsh had a super run and won the U/19 3000m Steeple Chase. Katie Walsh running in events that are above her age group competed in both the U/17 200m & 400m. Great running by both girls.

Michael Cahill Memorial 5K - Ballingarry 16.06.2017
A few of our Senior men made the annual pilgrimage to the Michael Cahill 5K hosted by Coolquill AC in Ballingarry. This was the 20th anniversary of this race which was held on a very hot evening in Tipperary. Noel Marum finished in 7th position and 1st Senior Male over 50, just ahead of Trevor McCormack in 8th place. Ronan Devoy returned to action finishing in 34th place.
